Fine Art Giclee Print | Beached up for Midday Two | Fine Art Fishing Boat
Artist’s Desciption
"Beached up for Midday Two" showcases a vibrantly colored fishing boat, adorned with sea-gazing eyes, pulled up to the high tide line by ropes on a two-wheeled trolley. The boat rests peacefully in the heat of the midday sun, its vivid red and blue hues standing out against the golden sand. Above, the most beautiful deep blue sky stretches endlessly, adding to the scene's serenity. The boat invites viewers to appreciate the quiet moments of repose amidst the daily toils of life at sea. I believe my keen attention to colour and detail brings this tranquil scene to life, capturing the essence of a peaceful interlude under the sun's hot embrace.
These boats have the seagazing eyes for three main resaons:
Protection: The eyes are thought to ward off evil spirits and shield the fishermen from sea monsters.
Navigation: The eyes indicate the boat's direction, helping other vessels avoid collisions and bring them safely back to land.
Symbolism: The eyes symbolize good fortune, successful fishing, and the safety of those on board. Some believe they represent a protective dragon, echoing the Mekong River's name, which means "The Nine Dragons."
